Mindfulness in Schools Project

TAPMS aims to integrate mindfulness courses into the social-emotional curriculum of future Taiwanese schools. Currently, Taiwan's social-emotional curriculum often lacks a clear thematic focus and tends to be woven into subject-oriented classes. Incorporating mindfulness lessons can appropriately cover topics such as social skills, self-awareness, and self-discipline. We utilize two mindfulness programs—Paws b and .b—which were developed by Mindfulness in Schools Project (MiSP), a UK-based charity organization.
What is Paws b?

"Paws b" is a mindfulness course developed, designed, and promoted by the internationally renowned nonprofit organization Mindfulness in Schools Project (MiSP). It is specifically tailored for elementary school students aged 7 to 11. Combining child-friendly language, captivating animations, and engaging teaching methods aligned with standard class periods and semester time allocations, Paws b is effectively implemented in school settings to promote mindfulness education. "Teach Paws b" is the corresponding training program designed to help teachers or education professionals who wish to teach this course in elementary schools, guiding them on how to bring its benefits to children.
Backed by extensive clinical psychology and neuroscience research, Paws b was created by teachers for teachers and has been successfully introduced in many schools across the UK. It has established a vast network of thousands of professionally trained mindfulness educators. MiSP collaborates with the MYRIAD team at the University of Oxford, alongside other leading experts and scholars, and has gained the strong endorsement of the National Association of Head Teachers—representing thirty thousand principals—demonstrating Paws b's feasibility and practical value in educational settings.
As a campus mindfulness program with a well-developed structure and substantial research support, Paws b has not only been applied for many years but has also proven effective in guiding teachers to introduce children to the world of mindfulness. If you're looking to implement mindfulness education in elementary classrooms, "Teach Paws b" is a clear and reliable pathway, enabling you to smoothly bring the program's benefits into children's daily learning and life.
What is dot b?

Pronounced "dot-be," .b stands for "stop, breathe, and be." It is a mindfulness course designed specifically for teenagers aged 11 to 18. Since its inception in 2009 by Richard Burnett and Chris Cullen, .b has become the first modularized mindfulness curriculum formally introduced into schools in the UK. Recognizing that teenagers' attention spans, learning environment, and physical and mental development differ significantly from those of adults, .b places special emphasis on fun and hands-on experiences to help young people more easily engage with, and benefit from, mindfulness.
The course is structured around ten core themes, each session lasting approximately 40 to 60 minutes. In addition to core concepts derived from adult Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), it incorporates teaching techniques and exercises specifically tailored for adolescents. The effectiveness of .b in the UK has been positively evaluated by the University of Cambridge and Oxford Brookes University, demonstrating its benefits in enhancing teenagers' focus and emotional regulation.
Most members of our association have completed MiSP teacher training in both the UK and Taiwan. They volunteer to teach the Paws b and .b courses to high school, junior high, and elementary students across Taiwan, receiving significant positive feedback and recognition. Notably, with the support of the Tainan City Teachers' Association, we are currently running the "School Mindfulness Culture Campaign."
